Assessment Plan - Exploring The Great Earth: Unit 1 - Plate Tectonics and Earth’s Structure 作者: Mind Map: Assessment Plan - Exploring The Great Earth: Unit 1 - Plate Tectonics and Earth’s Structure

1. Entry Level

1.1. Brainstorming and discussion: What are some activities that occur on Earth that may suggest it is alive?

2. Formative

2.1. Students know evidence of plate tectonics is derived from the fit of the continents; the location of earthquakes, volcanoes, and midocean ridges; and the distribution of fossils, rock types, and ancient climatic zones

2.1.1. Students will demonstrate understanding by completing a quiz on plate tectonics.

2.2. Students know Earth is composed of several layers

2.2.1. Students will create a diagram of the Earth's structure and must label the different parts and include a brief description of the sections.

2.3. Students know major geologic events, such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and mountain building, result from plate motions

2.3.1. Students will draw out the three types of plate boundaries and demonstrate their functions.

2.4. Students know how to explain major features of California geology

3. Summative

3.1. Students must create a poster that will demonstrate understanding of all the concepts learned in this section.

3.1.1. Students will present their poster to the class and will give a brief explanation of their work. They will also share what they thought was interesting in this unit.

3.2. Students will complete a unit test on all the concepts covered in this unit.
