3.1. Buddhism was founded in the late 6th century B.C.E. by Siddhartha Gautama.

3.1.1. The Buddha was born in a place called Lumbini near the Himalayan foothills, and started teaching around Benares.

3.2. Buddhism originated in northern india.

4.1. The Tripitaka, Mahayana Sutras,and the Tibetan book of the dead are all three major Buddhist texts.

4.1.1. The Buddha did not write anything down. The earliest known scriptures were recorded hundreds of years after his death.
